MIFA Roundtable and Conference Perth 2024
The MIFA Network and our partners came together in Perth across three days last week to continue our advocacy on addressing the gap in psychosocial supports.
MIFA members started the three days with a showcase of services, initiatives and knowledge sharing at Mental Illness Fellowship WA. The MIFA network thanks Monique Williamson and team for their hospitality and openness in sharing. We know so many ideas have been taken back to other members organisations to implement.
MIFA Board Directors and CEOs from our MIFA Member organisations then gathered that night to connect at The Rose & Crown, WA’s oldest operating Hotel. On a cold and wet night, we highly recommend their Beef and Guinness pie 👌
Wednesday, the MIFA Network was joined by our sector colleagues, including mental health peak bodies, lived experience leaders and government representatives, to reflect and discuss on expectations and gaps in Mental Health reform.
A panel discussion which included national and local WA representatives was a highlight with contrasting points of view while also offering recommendations on areas of advocacy that can strengthened mental health reform. Table discussions following the panel allowed for further dialogue and sharing of ideas.
After a big day, a dinner and lighter conversation was in order! The MIFA network was also able to say a final goodbye to Hayley Abell. After nearly six years Hayley finished on a high surrounded by the whole MIFA network as well as sector colleagues.
The last day of the MIFA Conference saw the MIFA Network a little tired but still enthusiastically pushing new objectives for MIFA to achieve moving forward.
