Kathy is a Lived Experience Trainer who is grateful to live and work on Noongar Country in WA. She has had roles in Peer Support and Program Development across the Mental Health, Family Domestic Violence and Community Legal sectors. Her goal is to support others to use their voice for change, especially those who have experienced trauma whilst seeking assistance or care.
As an advocate for trauma informed practice, Kathy shares her lived experiences of abuse and discrimination in the hope that she can transform systems into places of dignity, respect and safety. She knows firsthand that meaning making is essential for trauma recovery and one of the ways people achieve that is by exploring their lived experience story through the lens of social justice, narrative therapy and human rights.
She truly believes that we can’t heal what we don’t understand and is privileged to facilitate workshops for the Finding North Network where she aims to empower upcoming advocates to share their unique expertise.
