Juliana is a qualified human-centred designer specialising in service and strategic design. She worked as a print and radio journalist and communications professional before moving into design in 2021. She is founder of the design consultancy Defining (the only owned and founded design agency in Northern Australia) and has worked for a range of clients from the health, mental health, homelessness, research and education sectors.
Juliana brings a human-centred design lens to the mental health reform journey. This involves designing with, not for; understanding actor journeys so we can integrate the system in line with their needs; building generative mechanisms into service supply chains so they work for everyone, at every level; finding ways to enable change in stasis spaces; building in prevention; and working to convene collectives which represent the diverse needs of people with high-need mental health challenges.
