Out Doors Inc. Joins The MIFA Network

The Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (MIFA) is delighted to welcome Out Doors Inc. as the newest member of the MIFA Network.

This is more than a new membership. It’s a strengthening of the collective voice advocating for community-based mental health support across Australia.

For almost four decades, Out Doors Inc. has championed a simple but powerful idea: recovery and wellbeing don’t only happen indoors. Through outdoor adventures, creative activities, skill-building experiences, and connection with nature, the organisation has supported thousands of Victorians to build confidence, resilience, and community.

Their addition brings a unique perspective to the MIFA Network, highlighting the important role that nature-based and place-based approaches can play alongside other forms of mental health support. It also expands MIFA’s reach across Victoria, strengthening connections with metropolitan, regional, rural, and remote communities.

Importantly, this announcement comes at a time of significant change across Australia’s mental health landscape. As governments consider the future of community-managed mental health services, psychosocial supports, and the next National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement, a diverse and united federation has never been more important.

Together, MIFA and Out Doors Inc. share a belief that people deserve access to support that meets them where they are — whether that’s in a community centre, a peer support group, on a bushwalk, or around a campfire.

We’re excited about what this partnership will bring and look forward to working together to strengthen mental health outcomes for communities across Australia.
