MIFA Roundtable Townsville

MIFA convened a Psychosocial Support Roundtable, the third in a series of roundtables designed to bring key leaders and organisations together to address the gap in psychosocial support services. At least 154,000 people who require psychosocial support services to live well are missing out each year and MIFA has taken on a leadership role in advocating to close this gap.

MIFA’s Roundtable brought key stakeholders together from across the sector who are committed to addressing this gap through different pathways. We heard from our government colleagues at the Commonwealth and State levels, our colleagues at the NDIA and NDIS Review Panel, our lived experience colleagues and members of the National Psychosocial Support Advocacy Alliance Campaign about how we are all working towards closing the gap, what work we’ve done so far and what the roadblocks are to progress.

We workshopped the different challenges we are experiencing across these different parts of the sector, with the aim of aligning our understanding of the issues and creating possible solutions to be pursued beyond the roundtable.

This was a shining example of how we can continue to progress these issues by working together, understanding the challenges and co-creating solutions that will make a real difference in the lives of people living with severe and complex mental health conditions.
