MIFA Pre-Budget Submission 2023-2024

On 5 December 2022, the Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services called for submissions to identify priorities for the 2023‑2024 Budget. On 15 December, MIFA submitted a Pre-Budget Submission for the 2023-24 Federal Budget, calling on Government to prioritise the development of a national program of psychosocial supports to address the gap in psychosocial supports outside of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

We are asking for the Commonwealth and State and Territory Governments to work together to commence bilateral discussions for new psychosocial support investments, to be included in this next Federal Budget. It is imperative that governments commence new investments in psychosocial supports, with a view to expanding investments over time, to address the current and growing need for community support for people living with severe mental illness.
