Mental Health Week 2020 - Mental health for all

“Mental Health for All. Greater Investment – Greater Access. Everyone, everywhere.”

MIFA is proud to launch our Mental Health Week campaign for 2020. With the emerging mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has never been more important to stay connected with each other and emphasise that we are stronger together. This year we are spreading the message that we need to have mental health for all, and that greater investment and greater access is needed for everyone, everywhere.

From 10 to 17 October, during Mental Health Week, MIFA and our Member organisations will share a range of messages to spread hope, optimism, empowerment and create lasting change.

Join in the conversation on social media and help spread this important message. You can also check out the Mental Health Month calendar below and participate in lots of different activities to support your mental health and wellbeing in October.

MIFA is proud to support Out From the Mist in 2020

Out From the Mist is an international photography and short movie competition. Now in its second year, it provides a platform for professional and amateur photographers with mental health experiences to have their voices heard through an emotive, powerful and creative display. The competition is showcased online and at a live exhibition during World Mental Health Week in October.

Harnessing the power of storytelling, the exhibition showcases the strengths and the challenges, the joyous moments and the sad, of those who directly and indirectly confront the challenges of mental illness. In 2019, 440 thought-provoking, expressive and courageous entries from over 20 different countries provided a powerful and insightful glimpse into the complexities and challenges of mental health, and the hope of recovery. Click here to view a video from 2019 Winner, Danielle Pocock.

In 2020, an exhibition of short-listed photographs and short movies is being showcased at the Queensland Government Building at 1 William Street, Brisbane CBD from 8 to 16 October. Click here for more information.

Out From the Mist is run in partnership with and is proudly supported by Mental Illness Fellowship Australia (MIFA).

Shared Decision Making

This Mental Health Week 2018, we are sharing this short video on Shared Decision Making, which aims to help people become more active participants in their healthcare journey. It is a great starting point for people who want more involvement in decisions about their treatment but are unsure of how to ask the right questions and get involved.
