Schizophrenia Awareness Week 2021

Sunday 23 May to Saturday 29 May 2021

MIFA celebrated Schizophrenia Awareness Week (SAW) from Sunday 23 May to Saturday 29 May 2021. World Schizophrenia Awareness Day was held on Monday 24 May 2021. The theme for SAW2021 was "Discover Better Mental Health".

During the week we encouraged people with lived experience, their families and carers, to connect with others and reach out for support when they need it. As part of our SAW national media campaign, MIFA urged the Federal Government to invest $1.75 billion of much-needed funds into mental health supports for people living with severe mental illness. Read our SAW 2021 Media Release.

MIFA thanks our Lived Experience Advocates for contributing to our national media campaign and for sharing their stories with us.

Shared Decision Making

This short video on Shared Decision Making aims to help people become more active participants in their healthcare journey. It is a great starting point for people who want more involvement in decisions about their treatment but are unsure of how to ask the right questions and get involved.
